thanks for the reply what is a CCJ is this a seriouse thing to have? how will it affect me i will look into doing a search tomorrow to see if i have

CCJ is an English term and not used in Scottish courts. In Scotland creditors can apply for a court order. If they get it then they can take legal action to enforce it. See CCCS link for description of process.

So you may not see the term CCJ on your report if action has been taken in Scotland.

your good news is those that are over 5 years no longer exsist. thats from when you made a payment or written admission. if any have gone to court then thats diffrent. it may be worth checking your credit files

Not necessarily if it was sent to a different address. They will still show up on your credit file, but won't be called CCJ they'll be called "judgement" in the public records section of the report.

You might also wan't to look at the registry trust - which is guaranteed to have any judgements against you (it's unusual but possible that you may have a judgement not showing up on your credit report). http://www.trustonline.org.uk/search-yourself

Although the debts over 5 years old no longer exist, it's possible that the gas or electric company you owe might refust to take you as a customer at a later date.

so just paid £4 done the search and got returned with this NOTHING REGISTERED
so im guessing this is a good thing all though whats the chances of them maybe in the last few months desperate to get their money back before the debt becomes barred trying to persue a court claim i guess i just have to wait till august till im for sure they are barred

also relating to the dreaded credit files like i said above i havent applied for these for some time because im scared of all the letters coming through thick and fast, am i best just consintrating on the debt i do have just now and paying it off (i.e the debt that is well less than the 5 years old) and getting my credit files in a year or two when i know 100% they are well over the 5/6 years

and honestly thank you all for all your advice and help its much appreciated
