I tend to find all spreads (buttermilk things or olive oil based) taste manky.

Pure butter, easier, nicer and comes from a cow rather than a chemical plant. (OK, I know it's all processed now, but you get what I mean).

I agree butter tastes nicer, but that's just the problem - I find it all but impossible to exercise any self-control if I buy it. Firstly I spread it too thickly, even if spreadable, and secondly it tempts me to eat five times as much bread or toast in the first place! I just want a spread that stops the bread being dry, without being overly 'moreish'. The advantage of Flora (before they messed it up) was that it had a very inoffensive taste and smell which I certainly didn't find manky - but now it really is! Fortunately I'm happy with Clover (and maybe even with Aldi's 'looky-likey' which I'm about to try).

Maybe they think brand loyalty will switch people over the the Buttery version?

They're currently trying "I can't believe its not vole vomit" just to take you by surprise. Animal sick margarine is the next big thing.

I've never been keen on Flora. I prefer Kerry-gold spreadable butter.

I find butter tastes like what it is, rancid milk.

Now using Aldi Solesta light sunflower spread, and only 75p/500g.

We haven't had Flora for years, normally stick with I can't believe it's not butter".

We decided to try Lurpak "spreadable" some time ago and it is anything but Spreadable. Even after leaving it out the fridge for quite a while, it's still like spreading concrete over your bread and rips it to shreds!
