Debt Free 30th march 2012

Yes, after all of my adult life being in debt at different levels on 30th March I will receive a decent redundancy payout and that is the day I go online and pay off my debts. It will cost me around 50% of my payout and the rest will go into an ISA and the balance into my savings account.
My Barclays overdraft has been with me for 20 years at £3k, I hate to think the amount of intrest I have paid, but anyway.
Obviously the price I am paying is losing my job, however, I wont be chasing the big bucks anymore and have a couple of things going on which means I should be working before 30th :j
Best wishes to everyone out there, I will always come back here and read your posts and provide whatever support I can.

Every cloud and all that. It's good that you're securing your future with your redundancy and hopefully you can retain the debt free lifestyle.
Good luck with the next chapter in your working life.0 -
Well done jonjamie - there is probably something bigger and better out there for you, but like you say, it may take you down a different avenue if you aren't just after a job for the wage and paying off your debts - well done and enjoy the summer out of work ;0) xx0

Well a few weeks on and I did what I intended and paid off all my debts, sat in barclays for an hour while they helped me look at savings accounts and isa lol, usually they just rung me every month chasing money.
I have accepted a job on about £15k lower than previous but I don't really need the bucks anymore so it has a company car and usual perks in my trade and will suit me fine until I get fed up. I have decided not to start until April 30th though and I'm off to Spain for a couple of weeks.
I've done a bike mechanics course and my ultimate goal is to build a business over the next 18 months culminating in opening my own bike repair and sale business.
Good luck to you all and keep striving for that debt free day it's a fine day I can tell you!0
