DMP with CCCS - Are letters OK?

Our first payment to our creditors is due to be made via the CCCS on the 25th of this month. My question is to do with correspondence between us and our creditors. We sent out the standard letter when we embarked on the DMP stating CCCS were setting it up. Since then whenever we have had letters/defaults etc we have written again stating the CCCS are setting up the DMP and included when the first payment will be due. I know most of these letters are just computer generated standard letters sent when accounts default but is it ok to just respond with letters? My husband works nights and so the house phone is generally switched off and I don't answer my mobile to numbers I don't know, but having used Mr. Google I know a few of them are my creditors (actually 99% of them are from GE Money calling up to 8 times a day inc. Sundays and at 8:30pm)!! I do not cope well over the phone and know I would end up paying them something extra, which I also know CCCS strongly suggest you don't do. I also know there's no law stating I must answer my telephone I just wonder if it's ok to only correspond by letter. I keep hard copies of all the letters I have sent.

I guess I'm rambling a bit and hope it all makes sense lol. I'm just starting to freak out but I don't regret starting the DMP and I'm really looking forward to being Debt Free :)

Yep its fine to just stick to doing everything be letter. You might want to send GE a letter stating that all communication must be in writing - see here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11571485&postcount=4

If you've told them all and the DMP payments are due to start soon then I would probably not answer any more letters in the short term (except maybe to send that template letter)

  • Thank you. I thought letters only would be ok but I guess I just wanted reassuring. Todays post has just arrived with yet ANOTHER letter stating they've had no contact from us despite having 3 letters sent the last being only last week!..I realise these are probably computer generated but you would think it would be in everyone's interest to at least check the bloody wording.

Don't speak to them on the phone.

When I started my dmp with CCCS I just ignored any correspondence from the creditors. They had already received my CCCS letter so they knew what was going on and I felt there was no point in dealing any further with them. Anything that worried me, I just contacted CCCS on the best way to deal with it and they either told me to ignore it or send it to them to deal with.

Creditors are trying to get you to contact them and by sending hoards of letters to you spouting all sorts of rubbish.
