travel abroad ATM fees

Hello,
My old bank used to refund all ATM fees charged by other banks. It no longer offers this service. Looking for the best bank to use when traveling abroad, exchange rate and hopefully no fees. Suggestions,please?

Some will say Nationwide.
I have no experience as I am not a customer of theirs.

Have you not considered getting Travellers cheques in the currency of the country you are going to?

Nationwide every time.
Been using their debit card for cash and their credit card for years.
The best there is
loads of posts on this site so do a search and have a look at them

Using a Nationwide card doesn't stop the bank who operates the ATM from charging you. You just have to sus out which banks don't.
If you are in the States, the supermarket chain Publix don't charge at their machines for a Nationwide card.

I have been to spain france new zealand canada norway malta and others, used many different foreign bank cash machines and NEVER been charged when using my nationwide flexaccount card

We have a Nationwide card and use it a lot abroad in many different countries.
We have never been charged so I don't think it's widespread.
