It all sounds very sensible having water saving gadgets issued free from the water companys. I have just checked out Northumbria water web page, filled in my details and says I will receive a pack.mmm nice if I get a plumber too lol.

Surf Sister, if you are near Alton Reservior in Suffolk, surely you should qualify. If its a matter of post code, perhaps you could call them and point out you do actually live in their area. I have had this problem in the past with things, having had a Colchester postcode, but actually living in Suffolk.
    Growing old disgracefully!

I am the same as you, my fish and frogs are my pets ;)

I have used my hose to fill my water butts up to the brim and I am going to put the hose on and give the whole garden a good soak the day before the ban just to give the garden a few days head start.
I really don't understand this attitude.
    1) fish/wildlife ponds are now exempt from the ban
    2) the water shortage is genuine - it really has barely rained for months - just try and remember the last time you used your umbrella
    3) instead of unecessarily topping up water butts from the mains, get an extra butt and wait for the rain (mine all topped up this week from rain) and yes, I use stored rain water for my pond even though I could use mains water as I have Great Crested newts
    4) the reason busineses (eg car washes) can still use hoses is to not hit the employment/business economy more than it has been already in last couple of years

Come on guys, stop being selfish and do your bit!

    1) fish/wildlife ponds are now exempt from the ban which was my point, at least we can still look after our fish/frogs/newts

    2) the water shortage is genuine - it really has barely rained for months - just try and remember the last time you used your umbrella I think we all know its genuine.

    3) instead of unecessarily topping up water butts from the mains, get an extra butt and wait for the rain (mine all topped up this week from rain) and yes, I use stored rain water for my pond even though I could use mains water as I have Great Crested newts I already have the maximum amount of water butts for the area around my house so cant have anymore and I dont see where its unecessary to top them up before the ban as mine were mainly empty as we have had no rain?

    4) the reason busineses (eg car washes) can still use hoses is to not hit the employment/business economy more than it has been already in last couple of years I would imagine its more to do with how much they pay for business rates.

Come on guys, stop being selfish and do your bit!

Hope my answers explain and help you understand my 'attitude'
