Am i in the right job?

One of my first points would be that since it is clearly so vital that someone who knows something about lettings is contactable even when you're not in for any reason, they should provide a WORK mobile phone which can be passed on to someone before any planned absence. And if you're sick, collected from your home.
Presumably the agents dealing with sales aren't being contacted on their own personal mobiles if someone calls in about one of 'their' properties when they're out and about? So what's different about your job?
I might also be writing An Idiot's Guide to the Lettings Systems and leaving it somewhere prominent: no questions answered until you've checked the Idiot's Guide ... Or, if you think it would be less inflammatory, an "If I fell under a bus" file.
Any idea how much you make for the agency in a good month? I bet someone knows and is sure it's more than they're paying you - a LOT more than they're paying you! Might be worth doing some sums around that ... and pointing out what they'd lose at least short-term if they lost you.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi,
you need to take better care of yourself or you are going to 'burn out' very quickly! I0 mins for lunch breaks, what about health & safety rules, and 'work related stress'?
Can I ask why you do not have your 'own' pa to do all of the 'admin' for you? Well I do suppose that would cost to much money
It is definately harassment to continuously phone you when you are days off/sick leave or on holidays!
Do you have a contract of employment? How many hours are you paid for weekly? How many hours over contract hours do you work?
You are to be comgratulated for being in employment, and also for having some insight to many of the problems:)
May I suggest you book an appointment ASAP with your manager, go prepared with notes on how successful the 'lettings' have been since you started, have a list of how few sick days you have had, and finally estimate the number of calls from the office you have received to date.
Make it clear from that day you will arrive just before 9am and will leave the office at 7pm and will start taking a lunch break each day where you leave the office for 30mins. State under No Circumstances are you to be phoned at home. If your manager and other staff are not phoned you would like to be treated the same. Negociate a payment for overtime, if your manager is too busy to listen/help you, then you will never be appreciated at that place.
You may love your job to bits, but is it really the only EA? You are far to nice and accomadating and others will take you for granted until YOU change.
Life is too short, invent a family/new boyfriend and change your phone number where you cannot be contacted, or leave your mobile turned off.
Just my opinon, hope I haven't offened you in anyway.
Good luck.Love generously, praise loudly, live fully
