a large bag of flour, just about and I mean just about, fits into a 1.8L lock and lockWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

Newgirl wrote:Lock n Lock style tubs and their impersonators are quoted in litre sizes. Do you have one of those jugs with measurements on... perhaps you could put a bag of flour into it and see what 'litres' it equates to? Otherwise, without sounding facetious, you want one the size of a bag of flour!

haha :rotfl: was going to say my jugs aren't big enough but if you could SEE me ....:rotfl: :rotfl:
Anyway that's a good idea, might explore that or*lightbulb moment* actually my scales will weigh in both litres and kilos, duh, maybe that would work??
Have found a box on the John Lewis site that looks a likely contender as well, so once I have conducted my kitchen chemistry experiment I might mosey over to our local branch and investigate further.
Thanks for your help!

OK have weighed my bag of flour (1.5kg) and it comes up as 1.534 litres so vivw is right, I should be able to cram it into a 1.8 litre L&L box.
Thanks for your help! I should have worked that one out for myself really but sometimes I think my breakfast porridge seeps into my brain....

This thread reminded me of a visit to a friends house. When asked by her DD where the cheese grater was she replied with detailed instructions giving cupboard & shelf where the grater was to be found. My DD's who were with me at the time laughed & said if we asked our mum where the cheese grater was, she just say 'in the kitchen' I'd be the first to admit, I'm not very organised.

I generally only keep 1 bag of each flour (SR & P) at a time, so I just keep them in the bag and as there used quite quickly I dont worry about storing it as such.
The cupboard is organised well though so that I can see everyhting in there:D
You could always keep in plastic bags labelled well.

i wish i had a whole cupboard for baking but sdaly only have part of a cupboard so i bought a bit squar clear plastic box thing with lid from the cheap shop and put it all in there sugar, dried fruit, colourings etc then in saisburys they had 10 round containers with lids in varying sizes and i use them for the flour as i have sooo many types since buying the breadmaker.Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts0

:rotfl: I need to label my tubs back and front, was out today and DP made himself a coffee, he used bicarb instead of sugar :rotfl: he's bloomin' useless it's labelled on the other side, he didn't check and just used it because he thought it looked like sugar (can you tell how often he ventures into the kitchen :rotfl: )
Baking stuff now takes up 2 cupboardsOne day I might be more organised...........

I have a dedicated baking cupboard
I use 4 litre ice cream containers which I have collected over the years. They are from a local dairy and are really sturdy.
I posted a pic of my baking cupboard on the 'OS magic ' thread a while back.
For some reason the pic didn't appear with the others on my post, but if you click on the link underneath the third picture you can see it

Btw the lettering on my breadbin has become so scratched that I now keep it turned the other way. Also my cooker's fan has packed up and it is proving an unbelievably difficult job getting it repaired, so we are going back to a built in oven and hob. I've also got a new toaster and new set of scales:D0
