Decide what you want (the holiday), contact the head and explain the problem (i.e. that you booked the holiday to coincide with the published holiday and that reorganising it would incur extra expense, problems with employers and so on).
You are then giving them the ammunition they need to fight your corner with the LEA/Ofsted if necessary.
Most heads will be reasonable in these circumstances.
I have encountered some unreasonable ones but if you then need to take the matter further you can explain that you have been unable to reach an acceptable resolution via the head. That makes your position stronger.
Go in with all guns blazing and you will soon find yourself with no solution and no ammunition to fight on.
Hang on a minute - the SCHOOL messed up here - they gave out holiday dates; parents booked their holiday to fall within these dates THEN the school changed them.
How is that 'no ammunition'?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I think I agree with the majority here. Go on your holiday, explain to the school that it was booked to coincide with the orignal half term dates and - because of work timetabling nad the costs involved - the dates for it cannot be changed. I am sure you will find your school to be understanding. Enjoy your holiday - the children will be chuffed to be getting extra trime off of school too (but no one's fault)0
