home made reggae reggae sauce recipe?

Hi all, hoping you wonderful os people can help. I had one of those jars of reggae reggae sauce for dinner last night and it was lovely. I was wondering if anyone knew of a recipe to replicate it as I dont want to be paying £2 a jar when they go off offer :) and I was also thinking I could make it a bit milder for the children. I've tried to google but it all seems to be jerk rubs and marinades....
THANKS!

Have a look at the ingredients on the jar and take it from there, adapting it to suit your needs.
  • I second kerleytops, although you may want to look online for a few recipes as well. I've had good results doing this for Cuban Mojo sauce. It took me a couple of tries to get it how I liked it and to figure out substitutions for things i couldn't find easily but I did work out something I liked. The key is to write down what you do each time you try it.

Take the flavours from the rubs and marinades and compare to the ingredients listed on the jar. I've never had reggae reggae sauce but looks like it might be tomato-based? If so, start off with tinned toms or passata and add the flavourings that are on the ingredients and/or in jerk sauces and see if you can make something that tastes similar - or even better!

If its not tomato-based, work out what the basic sauce is likely to be and then work up from that.

And as fairyprincessk says, keep notes until you figure it out!
