    7.1 o for me or 28.4 kWh.

30 is proving tricky to get mainly because the increased temps have reduced max output to 3.4 kW from 3.6kw

What do they do about the heat in Nevada and California, do they have cooling fans or something.

Oh and do the Spanish have anything like the FIT.

    Fanfare time!
    21.08kWh / 5.27 O's... yes that's right... play the tune! Hawaii me up! :D
Best day so far. Only peaked at 2.4kW (as opposed to last week of 3.6), but that'll be the slight haze we had and the extra warmth :D

Good question, not sure. Presumably they live with it.

Would be interested to hear how other folks on here have seen their max output fluctuate.

The Spanish did have a FIT but reneged on the terms.

I have a sse orientation and have often wondered if I could rig up a pulley type of system that I could just pull a weighted length of timber that has a array of 4 4 foot by 8 foot panels with mirror tiles to reflect the energy from the ssw sun onto the panels.

Hiya Dave. Mirrors & PV is a subject that comes up on the Navitron forum quite often. Usually with some tongue-in-cheek comments.

This article was recently posted, with some concerns about wind-loading!

@Dave, as nigel says, things in Spain are not good. I've been following the story for a couple of years. It's a disaster, and hard to believe!

PV prices are pretty low in Spain, and generation is around 50%+ more than in the UK, so it got very popular, very fast. Then it hit a level, where even without FiT it was viable, so the leccy providers panicked.

FiT was removed, export stopped being paid for - still PV went up - so the leccy companies worried about market share, managed to get a ruling (currently being challenged by the EU) that all PV owners had to pay a fee to 'dump' their excess onto the grid. This was based on whole generation, not export, and was (when I last looked) €0.07/kWh, making own use PV more expensive (cost of kit, plus fee) than importing leccy.

Possible solution is to go off-grid (with batts), something that is viable(ish) in Spain, but, by co-incidence there is also a piece of legislation that potentially fines you for 'stealing sunlight'. This could be as high as €30m ........ that's not a typo.

Nice to know that our leccy companies aren't that bad ....... in comparison?

One to watch, will be PV in the southern US states. Similar generation levels to Spain, but currently PV costs are a lot higher than Spain (Germany, UK etc) as they went for subsidies based on supporting capital outlay, not generation, so didn't encourage cost reductions/competition like the European FiT schemes. Expect the leccy companies in those states to start panicking soon as prices keep falling, and installs keep rising. They are already trying to impose monthly fees for PV'ers to support grid costs (though PV is seen as helping to lower costs, as it balances out A/C daytime peaks).

It's all fun and games ..... till someone loses an eye.

A great first PV anniversary with 6.34 O's yesterday.

Some light clouds and general haze in the PM, but the morning was great, with the system coming to life at 05:40 and not shutting down until 20:30.

Will get round to that full summary post this evening hopefully - too busy enjoying the sun (and a few beers!) yesterday.
My PV system: South West England, 10x 250Wp Trina Solar panels, Fronius Inverter, South facing roof, 35° pitch with no shading.

Thanks for that interesting piece Mart.

Shocking to read all that - I must admit I thought the initial reason for removal of the FiT was because the government were in so much debt.
