Benrb7 said:Coastalwatch said:Nice setup, you've certainly maximised available roof space. Neat covers over the inverter and battery, I'm impressed.Do you have any plans for the chimney once FF's are dispensed with?
Chimney will be left as it's it's not being used I did think about a wood burner but can't be hassled with it.
I opened up the lower level roof and insulated and put about 400mm of insulation in there before panels went on, same for main roof, cavity walls insulated too. I've seen my gas usage come down from about 15000kwh a year to 10000kwh with the extra insulation.Good work with that insulation too, reducing gas usage and I imagine making for a more comfortable temperature in the property as well.Having made it cosy inside and with the chimney not being used I can't help but wonder how much heat might be lost to the outside world purely through the brickwork infrastructure and into the cold winter air?Oh dear, I've got carried away and taken the post off topic so apologies one and all.East coast, lat 51.97. 8.26kw SSE, 23° pitch + 0.59kw WSW vertical. Basically sealed the chimney off ( bag up the chimney flue and mastic'd the back board in the fire place. I've got an electric flame effect fire in there giving a nice ambience in cooler weather without the need for cleaning it 😀
Managed a respectable 32kwh yesterday and another 28kwh today, good job the hot tub is out using some of the extra spare energy.
