Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).4 -
jimjames said on 19th Nov 2021:It's exactly 10 years since our 3kWp (14 x 215W) solar panels were commissioned in Nov 2011 ...Today it's my turn. It's ten years to the day since my 11 x 247W panels were commissioned and added their first watt-hours to the grid.In ten years we've generated 25730kWh, an average of 2573kWh or 947 O's per year (947Wh per year per W of panel, if you prefer). The installer's prediction was 2415 and PVGIS says 2492 so we've beaten those numbers by 6.5% and 3.3% respectively.Samsung's panel warranty was 90% of rated output at 10 years and 80% at 25 years. My records are patchy but there's no glaringly-obvious evidence of the system being less effective today than it was when it was installed in 2012.I'm still on my original inverter and I think I've washed them down once or twice in the decade. No other maintenance or expenses.Talking of expenses, the original install cost around £8500, a little over £3/watt. At the time that was a good price. We caught the last of the 40p FITs and broke even in cash terms in the summer of 2018.I'm looking forward to the next decade!N. Hampshire, he/him.
