Out of interest, I had a look at the effect the solaredge optimisers are having with my system over the last week.

The shading is fairly minimal. The main reason I got the optimisers was in case the neighbor's did a hip to gable extension at some point.

Assuming that the output of the string would have been governed by the output of the lowest power panel if I didn't have optimisers. The optimisers have increased output by between 10 and 20%. With more on sunny days and the panels higher in the roof, generally performing better. This is mainly from differences as the sun rises/sets and the panels come in/out of shade of the surrounding roof lines. I would expect their effect will be much lesser in the summer when for most of the day the sun is higher in the sky.

Probably only marginally interesting, but there you go!

6.7kW split Solaredge PV system (2.4kW SE, 4.3kW SW). Installed Nov 2021. Located in Southampton.
