  • Haven't posted on here for ages, mainly due to my routine being changed by working from home meaning I forget to look at the numbers.  I've done my 2020 figures:
    6157 kWh home usage
5408 kWh solar PV (106% PVGIS)
1916 kWh from powerwall to home
2323 kWh from grid to home
    1242 kWh exported to grid
(and by subtraction, 1918 kWh of the solar directly powered the home)

So I've saved £575 on my electric bill and earned £355 in FIT + export, which gives approx 13 years payback period for solar + powerwall.

When I can get a smart meter and use the Octopus Go tariff to charge up the powerwall overnight from October to March I'll be able to save perhaps £100-150/year more.

From April on my home usage has been around 20% higher due to WFH and most of that extra is during the hours of sunlight, so it has an overall positive effect on the savings and payback period.
