Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation"

Rubbish - Rain most of the day, 1.37 O's.3.96 kWp System, SSE Facing, 30 Degree Pitch, 12 x 330W BenQ Panels, Solar Edge Inverter, Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Installed 26th May 2015.0

May target got around 10.30 am
Pants day though, but in positive territory so all 4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.
Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.0 -
My system was 1 year old as at 1.30pm today, when it first started producing.
It has generated 3780 kWh, against the MCS Certificate's 3445 kWh. The PVGIS figure is 3750 kWh.
Best day - 11th June 2015 - 28.538kWh.
Worst day - 12th Dec 2015 - 0.243 kWh.
We use about 70% - 75% of what we generate. We are heavy users and can only dream about the figures some people report using per day from the grid, sometimes around or below the 1 kWh figure. But I am not complaining, it has cut our electric consumption from the grid drastically, by being more aware of what is switched on/being used and changing light bulbs to LED. At the last count over the course of the year I had changed 104 bulbs and 4 strip lights to LED versions, none have failed to date!
All in all, I am very happy that I installed the system and for all the help and advice I received from this Forum.  :beer:3.96 kWp System, SSE Facing, 30 Degree Pitch, 12 x 330W BenQ Panels, Solar Edge Inverter, Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Installed 26th May 2015.0 -
A poor 1.25 O's yesterday and have now fallen behind target. Looking at the weather over the next week, not sure if I will be able to make Target.3.99KW SunEdison (14 * 285W), Solis inverter, iBoost, Herts, roughly SW facing0

Merlin appeared to be suggesting that the O calculation already allows for factors like longer day length in Scotland. It does not ! Nor indeed does it take many other factors - which also make the simple comparison inaccurate.
Of course, the "O", known as "Efficiency" at pvout.org, has many limitations.
The dark green line read against the right hand vertical axis shows daily Os.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -
And here is an O graph averaged across 530 participants in the UK:
Notice that 5 Os is rarely hit. See dark green line and left vertical axis in this case.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -

Been busy at work of late and not had much free time but hit my PVGIS today.
Readings go in tomorrow, we'll see how my FiTs provider performs once again(they don't have a very good record)2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
Cold and windy here on the E. coast today. Made 2.5 O's or 10kWh:(
The good news. Wattson anywhere say's I used over 86% of them:rotfl:16 Sanyo Hit 250s.4kWp SMA 3.8kWp inverter. SW roof. 28° pitch. Minimal shade. Nov 2011 install. Hybrid car. Ripple Kirk Hill. N.E Lincs Coast.0 -
The O system makes it a beter way to judge who is doing better than others. Without it the person with the biggest system should always be on top. I could never generate 32 kWh like Martyn did yesterday, and I doubt anyone else could with a 4 kWh system.
The PVGIS gives us an indication of how we should be doing. Apart from Shavy up in the lovely country of Scotland I am about the furthest north from what I can see from peoples signatures. You have never heard me moaning that the guys living down south have an advantage over me. If I moved my system to my parents house on the south coast it would be 400+ kWh per year better off.
If we all had identical sytems facing the same way and we all had the same weather eachday then those up in Scotland between the Spring and Autumn equinox would do better because of the amount of daylight but what about the angle of the sun does that not make some difference?
A system in Fraserborough Scotland and one due south of Fraserborough in Swanage in Dorset would have 950 kWh per year difference in PVGIS.
Until someone can come up with a handicap system to account for the weather, size, orrientation, angle, type and make of panel, longitude and latitude I guess we will all have to accept Oscars system.
At the end of the day what difference does it make? Some of us come here everyday to publish what are panels have achieved. No prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd or last. Some come here only when they have generated great figures. Some maybe inflating their scores! Who knows, who cares! If I stopped posting on here I would not lose any sleep over it. Its a bit of fun especially in the winter when some people have generated virtually nothing!:D
Now off to do something important! Take a dump!:rotfl:
Looking at Pvoutput.org website and tracking some Aussie installation for the similar capacity will just show how weather affects all of us.
Been busy the last few days - but thats 101%for the month.
