Being done on my Generation payment:-

Last year; November, meter was on 33151.
End of Sept 2012 was on 34888 so imported to date 1733 kWh
Fed in 2281.7 to date, so I am only using 24% of what I generate, yet it's assumed I use 50%! Skanked Again
Roll out smart meters....quick; for the extra pittance.

Inspired by and to add to Oscargrouch's import:export data

We've imported 2063 kwh (since 21 November 2011 PV install to date) and generated 3006 kwh so are using approx 32% of what we generate so far.

We are already trying to manually 'synch' as much electrical activity to coincide with the sun being out and judicious use of timers/delays on appliances and at least one of us is at home during the daytime.

Thinking we might want to take a closer look at getting something like an Immersun or other solar PV dump technology to mop up the surplus to get us closer to the using more than the 'deemed' export of 50% (or in our case, 68%!)

13kwh generated today (which is nice after the 4kwh days we've had previously!)

    Hi

So you've imported 1733kWh and the TGM says you've generated 2281.7kWh and that's all the information you have ??

I'm pretty sure that all you have done is worked out a straight ratio which has no relation to usage at all ...

    Generate 2281.7
    Import 1733
    Difference 548

The percentage is simply related to a ratio of difference to generation, the 24% simply being 548/2281.7.

At the very least you would need to know the import for the same period in the previous year and take the reduction in import between the two years as being the self consumption, and even this would be inaccurate due to annual consumption variances etc ....

As an example, a percentage self usage calculation would look something like this ...

    Generate 2281.7
    Import (post installation year) 1733
    Import (pre installation year) 2500

    Percentage self consumed = (2500-1733)/2281.7=33.6%
    Therefore percentage exported = 100%-33.6% = 66.4%

An acceptable 9.9kWh yesterday. :) So much cloud around, took me 45mins to boil a kettle, kept having to switch it 'off and on' between clouds. :rotfl:

Thanks for that; I take my hat off to you, you are absolutely correct. :o I do have the figures required, and at least I am not being done as much as originally thought. I will have to try and alter my formula in XL to correct my miscalculations..:T

Got 7.62kWh today, well over double the highest so far for October. But looking at the forecast, it's another "one-off".
2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.

9.3 kWh here; not too bad for the time of year I guess..:D

The good start to October continues with a 12.5kWh, despite the showers and clouds this afternoon.
