My itunes won't import cds anymore...help!

OK.....I've just bought a new nano and the salesperson said to make sure I downloaded the latest itunes version 7.0.2...which I did. And now all hell has broken loose.

The symbol in the top right corner that I used to click on to import cds has disappeared. Going to the import option via the menu takes me to somewhere on my hardrive where all my music is (I'm hopeless at techie stuff so sorry if that sounds all wrong).:o

Also, I used to have a devices section down the left hand side and this has disappeared as well.

I've tried following the instructions on the itunes website as well as re-installing itunes, all to no avail.

HELP!

  • The button has just moved, it's now down at the bottom right and I think it actually says "Import CD" or similar.

Nope....fraid not. There's a new burn disc button, but no importing one.

    Thanks anyways :D
  • It should be to the left of your eject button. Is the CD showing up in iTunes otherwise, or mounting in Windows/OSX?

To the left of the eject button is a "quickly search your itunes library" button.

The disc doesn't show up anywhere as being present......:o
  • My itunes has caused my disc drive to be defunct and it no longer recognises when I insert a CD!

That seems to be the problem then, if the machine isn't seeing the disc then iTunes won't be able to import it. It could be a problem with your drive, or more likely the CD.
