Bonus entitlement

Hi all,

I have a job contract which says "Your remuneration is £x thereafter plus £x bonus structure per annum".

And the company handbook says:

Any payment of bonus and/or commission is at the absolute discretion of the Company. If you are eligible to be considered for a bonus and/or commission, you will be advised separately. The Company reserves the right to alter or amend commission payments as and when necessary.

There has still been no talk of bonuses despite the end of our financial year. I've also not been set a criteria as to how I need to achieve said bonus.

I've Googled a few things, and I'm still confused. I know this isn't the best place in the world for proper legal advice, but I would be interested in anyone's perspective if they have experience of such things.

I'd say you're not getting a bonus this year. I doubt if legal action would be successful, perhaps you should be discussing this with your manager.

The clue is in the words 'company's discretion'
