Home improvement loan with poor credit

Hi,

Our house needs a lot of work done, which will cost between £10k to £20k. My husband is in the construction trade which, as you know, has been hit by the recession. I run my own bookkeeping firm.

I have some defaults from years ago, and I also have a CCJ for a car loan that I'd been in dispute with. The CCJ appeared last year, and I have been paying it back ever since.

Does anyone know who might be able to help with a loan? I approached my lender who said they are not lending at the moment, and the one firm I approached seemed to want me to consolidate my loans, which I'm managing on my own.

Thanks in advance.

Theres many threads on the same subject, did you not read them ?

With the poor credit the chances of a loan are small.
  • Wanna live beyond your means don't ya?

Your house cant NEED that much fixing else should be inhabitable. You just WANT it all shiny new when you clearly cant afford it.

No lenders going to give you 20k so just kill that idea now.

Exactly what I thought when I read the OP's thread.

There really is no need to be rude Bravehearted, you don't know habitable or inhabitable my home is.

To the other posters, what I meant re: my husband being in construction he could do the work, we'll just have to pay for the materials. However, if there is no point in trying to find a loan we'll just have to live with it for now.
