My Husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a couple of weeks ago, he doesnt need medication or anything but does need to go on a healthy diet, I have made some lovely meals from recipe cards given out free at Asda but I cant keep using the same ones over again and having the same meals all the time.
We are on a tight budget as at the mo he is on SSP at £94 a week plus I get IB so cant go for the more expensive type recipes. If anyone has a couple of nice healthy recipes for me I would be most grateful, we are not veggies so meat can be on the menu, oh also, and I know this might be pushing it lol, we do like our puddings, but we cant go for the stodgy sponge puds that we used to have.
Thankyou

If he's not on meds and just needs a normal healthy diet then I would go down that route and perhaps ask your GP to refer you to a dietician who can give you advice. In the meantime, these threads may give you some ideas.

*My doctor sent me on a DESMOND day which was really helpful. Get yr husband to ask his GP for a referral
My favorite recipe at the moment is tandoori chicken
Chicken thighs or drumsticks - skin removed, score meat with knife
mix 1/2 large tub of low fat natural yoghurt with 2 tablespoons of tandoori masala powder (available in most supermarkets) and coat over chicken, cover and chill for at least 20 mins
Put in pan with lid on in oven, remove lid for last 20 mins
Serve with homemade potato wedges:
Wash large baking potato. Cut into wedges with skin on. Spray with 1cal low fat spray (available in most supermarkets) and sprinkle with pepper, garlic granuals or any other herb or seasoning you like. Bake in oven.
Serve with baked beans, or sweetcorn, salad whichever you prefer. Or instead of potatoes you could serve with brown rice (complex carbs) and added sweetcorn, peppers, corgette, onion or any veg
There is a recipe finder here which you may find useful including desserts. Good luck x
