Cheap Website

Hi there Im after a bit of advice please.

I am currently offering the following

website design,
facebook business pages,
google+ business pages

to small businesses and local traders etc all at very low prices as I know how bad the current economic climate is.

My issue is that although I have had a few sales through friends and word of mouth (satisfied customers) Im struggling to increase my customer base. Can anybody advise how I can get the word out to people as the service Im offering is so cheap and it would reallly benefit companies without having to shell out hundreds of pounds.

Any advice would be gratefully received

Thanks

A facebook page is free so offering one at a low price seems a bit ridiculous

    Thanks for the negative feedback.

Everything I offer is free but Im offering a service for people who either dont know how to do it or dont have the time and would be willing to pay for it.

As I said - Ive already done this successfully for a few local businesses and Im just trying to expand a little.

To be harsh, you are selling a marketing service and expecting people to pay you for your expertise in marketing. Why are you on a general website asking for marketing tips when your expecting others to pay you for the same?

Isnt there a difference between just physically creating a site page etc and then marketing? I always thought that was the point of SEO (which Ive never mentioned I was offering or claimed to be an expert in?).

SEO is another part of the marketing process.

Why should your prospective clients get a facebook page? How successful has your page been in achieving the same?

You need to be extremely pro-active, calling round as many companies as possible and getting in front of as many decision makers as possible.

Then you need to sell yourself and whatever your product is your offering. It is a numbers game and is obviously a hard slog, but thats how most people get started out.

I take it you have your own website set up offering your services, and you are emailing businesses as well, although most of the time I delete advertising emails if they make it through my junk mail folder.

Its entirely upto you how hard you work

Thanks GAH - Ive mainly be going via word or mouth but as you have suggested - Ive now decided its time to go proactive and have started contacting people via yell intially (email and telpehone) - so will see how that goes

Hi, I have neither time nor inclination to write an essay on marketing right now, however in a nutshell you need to be able to grab your prospective clients' attention long enough to be able to explain to them what you are offering and why it is a good deal for them. Ideally your communication should be tailored to each prospect but since I guess you're going to be looking to do generic mailshots, you need to look at the key points which would apply accross all sectors. May I emphasize that you also need to be seen to practice what you preach, i.e. your website/facebook page/google business page should all be shining examples of your craft? Working on the basis that if you're serious about this, you will need to be prepared to spend a little money to get business, I'd suggest that you buy some cheap marketing items (which might or might not be business-related) which should get people's attention (for example you could buy some seeds or bulbs as a reference to growing their business which they can then either plant or pass on) along with either a business card or a small leaflet which points them to your website/facebook page/google business page. That is where you then do your selling. I'm guessing that all your offering (and I mean this perfectly politely) are your technical skills rather than your ability as a content writer/marketer in which case you may want to team up with someone who does have the sales/marketing skills as, to be honest, these days creating websites and facebook pages and so on is very straightforward. It's the content which is the challenge.

    Good luck.
