  • Hi,
Your 1 year guarantee begins on the date of purchase and not on the date of replacement so your guarantee has expired!
It will depend on how they dealt with it though, because if your receipt doesn't show it as a replacement then there is nothing stopping you taking it back up to 1 year from the replacement date.
  • Its the manufacturer that garantees it not argos so it would be from the date of replacement
  • Sorry to say but you would be lucky if they do anything for you. Personally with how we are now being trained to be more strict with our refund policys I would offer nothing as of such to you due to years warranty being expired. I would offer however to have it repaired for you but advise you that it would be at cost. And with the repair service time Nintendo have at the moment I can tell you that it will take at least a month to get your DS back. But as you know at the end of the day anything can happen depending on who serves you.

When we have had problems with our son's DS, it was sent back to Codestorm in Portsmouth, who handle Nintendo services, and they repaired it free of charge.

Nintendo Products come with 2 years warranty but most shops (rightly or wrongly) will only deal with any problems for the first year. Nintendo (or their service agents) though will repair/replace it etc within the 2 year period.

    Hi.

Just wondering what you need to do if you can't find you're proof of purchase showing the date that you purchased it? Is there any way that you could get nintendo to do the work/replacement? Especially considering that it is a 2 year guaruntee???

    Thanks a lot

According to the person who did our consumer law course if we reaplace the product at store then the item gets a brand new 1 year cover, if the item is replaced from the manufacturer then they only get a 3 month cover. So providing the receipt has on that it was replaced then it should get a new 1 year gurantee as if they had just bought a new one. Hope this helps

    Hiya,

I work for Argos and I am in charge of returns and repairs and would like to clear a few things up. First of all, when you returned your DS on 20/05/06 the store should have sent the DS off to Nintendo for repair rather than just giving you a replacement. But I suppose it was down to managers discretion. Secondly your 1 year warranty would have started from when you got your replacement, NOT when you first bought the DS. If you take your DS back to Argos they are legally bound to either repair or replace it. If you have no receipt first thing to think is do you still have the box with the catalogue number on? Then, how did you pay? If you paid by card then a statement will be accepted as PoP. If neither of these help, then can you remember the day/time you bought it? Argos will look on their system and see that you did buy it on the day/time you specified. I have given several refunds/replacements using this method.

Hope all this helps and I haven't just waffled on for no reason!

Argos can only trace a transaction on their system for the previous 3 months. Do bring back your receipt. Your guarantee started from the date of replacement. Bring it back into Argos, they will send it off for a repair, not a replacement. But beware Nintendo are up to their tonsils with repairs. At the moment they are just sending back repairs from Jan. Hope this is of some help.

Just a liittle thing that Argos staff or anyone else might find useful. One of the members of staff at our place spoke to someone from Nintendo about the prob with the screen not recognising when the stylus is placed on it and apparently dust is getting under the rim of the screen and if you get one of the electronic gift cards and just clean under this rim then its stops the ds from getting confused as it thisnks that it is being pressed in two places and that is some of the resons that we have been getting ds`s back. So if you get the same just give it a try.
    Hope this helps
