Same price, less in pack.

I've been reading all the posts re smaller packets/less contents for same price in this forum and this reminded me I meant to post this. I was in Tesco's on Saturday, and looked to see what chocolate bars were on offer, and I saw Mars bars, 4 for £1.78 (or thereabouts). Too expensive I thought, and walked away. BUT then I thought 4 for £1.78 - didn't there used to be be 5 in the pack? I'm sure there was and only a few weeks ago too, because there's 2 of us and I always had to buy 2 packs to make sure there were fair shares (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it;)). Has anyone else noted this, Snickers are probably the same, or is it just me losing my memory?

Branston Beans were in 420g cans last time I bought a load on offer at 4 for £1 in Lidl.

Looked yesterday and they have down-sized to 410g. Not sure if this is only the 4-packs or individual cans as well.

    Sneaky Branston.

A lot of different cheeses used to be 400g but are now 350g. Some have stayed the same price which is bad enough, but I am aware of at least one major one where the price has also increased.

Lesson look out for the price per 100g which are increasingly on the price labels and compare there.

I've noticed this, too, and it's so annoying!

It's the oldest retail trick in the book.

Are Creme Eggs smaller, or are they just further away? :)

Shelf prices and prices per unit are covered by the Weights & Measures Act 1985, Price Marking Order 2004. Contravention is a criminal offence, and it's enforced by Trading Standards.

I think that's exactly what they think. But the worm is turning and you just have to see the full car parks in Aldi and Lidl to prove it!

Most confectionery (and many soft drinks) come in a variety of sizes of multipacks e.g. Mars do 3/4/5/6pks, Coke/Pepsi do 4/6/8pks. I'm not au fait with crisps but after yesterdays war of words re 'is a bag a unit of measure' we'll leave that one alone.

No-one thinks anyone is 'stupid' but retailers & manufacturers aren't charity and are in it to make money. If that means doing it from complacent or distracted shopped then so be it but for all the arguments about boycotting Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys etc I challenge you to find a retailer who plays by 'your' rules
