I had exactly the same choice today and I bought the Biere Speciale.

Bear in mind that the Carlsberg Export* (and indeed the Stella at Costcutter) is now also 4.8% ABV. I think the Biere Speciale tastes fine, so at £1.21 per litre, for me it's the best buy.

* Some Tesco stores have stock of the old packs which are 5% ABV.

Tried Aberdeen Extra, Inverurie Extra and Huntly stores tonight and the Bud and Carlsberg were all back up in price

I have a bottle of the Costcutter Stella in front of me and it's definitely still 5% although I also have read they are downgrading its alcohol content so mujst be an 'old' batch (best before Sep 2012 so no probs).

PS I normally buy Asda's Biere Deluxe. Beautiful drink imo (4.8%) and everyday price of £3.05 for 10x 250ml bottles. £1.22/litre.

Why is this on the "it's gone" board?

We got some yesterday in Colchester (Highwoods) and mum just got some in Chelmsford (Springfield Road).

There are big "2 for £16" displays in the shop, but if you go to the beer aisle and just look at the normal sticker price on the shelf, it's £5! I'd suggest only buying one box. If you buy two, it might cost you £16. :rotfl:

2 for £16 isn't a great deal - I'm sure these boxes used to have 15 bottles in rather than 12...
