so she doesn't see how she can afford to be honest.

She has a damn sight more to lose than money.

She can't afford not to be honest. Unless of course she would prefer to be in prison and to leave her kids to either the charity of other family or to social services care for the duration. If she 'hands herself in' she will be treated far better than if she gets caught, which she obviously will. It just takes all the different agencies a while to feed the info across.

I hope she gets the book thrown at her.Sorry but i dont have a problem with anyone on benefits but what the freind is doing is out of order. It seems to me that the op friend is more worried about her wonga payments than commiting fraud. Is it only me that can smell a rat.
  • I am completely in agreement that she's just being plain stupid now. I have passed on the advice that has been given about all of the points raised in my original post, and that's where I'll leave it - the ball is in her court, she's been helped with information and advice and it's now up to her. I'm not getting any more involved, certainly not handling phone calls or paperwork.
And if she ever asks me for money, she'll never get it because I'll die laughing before I give her a penny. I'm a friend, but I'm not stupid :)
Thanks again for all the advice in a rather controversial matter.
On the point of me being more concerned about the Wonga than the fraud, absolutely not. It was the Wonga payment that prompted me to Google and find this forum, that is all. I don't understand what rat you can smell, anyone that would take the time to make up this level of detail clearly has problems. I don't know what else I can say to prove myself genuine. But thank you to those who gave advice despite the very bad choices she has made in the past, and continues to do so. I have very strongly urged her to call tax credits, as a matter of urgency, swiftly followed by the CCCS.
