Husband's Mortgage - can I be put on it?

Hi all

My Husband and I are due to move back into his ex marital home for a while until we can sell and move on.
I've never had a mortgage before and so I'm sorry if my question sounds dumb. I've checked my Experian and Equifax credit reports and have no CCJ's or Defaults listed on there. I want to make sure that both of our Credit scores are decent for when we are ready to sell and move on. With this in mind should I be looking to be named on my Husband's current mortage or should I leave it well alone? Obviously he's happy for me to be named on it.
If I were to be named on there then what process do you have to go through?

A process called a transfer of equity involves you applying to the current mortgage lender and being vetted for inclusion on the mortgage. If this is approved, the matter is passed to a solicitor for you to be included on the title deeds, so you become joint owner of the property.

The cost of a transfer of equity is between £400 and £600 in total and the process takes several months.
