endowment people claim they don't know me or my policy. Help!

Options
the last contact was in 2009. this related to the freez of the endowment payments, possible surrender and that the house was to be sold. but the house only got sold in 2011 (summer) and i sent the first letter to advise them of a change of address and the surrender of the policy in november. i sent an identical second letter in febuary. i called them up as i have not heard from them. they claim they don't know me!!! I am just about to post a letter with the threat of legal action.
I have all the correspondance going back years with certificates and solicitor letters. Should i be worried?

Also i have trawled the internet and not found much advice on selling mature endowments (Not even from martin) - Any advice?

Why not just send them a photocopy of some of the correspondence with policy numbers on and ask them to update their records accordingly and advise you about where things stand.

Threatening legal action makes you look silly.

    Provide more information.

If that doesn't work, complain formally.

If that doesn't work use the FOS.

    It's cheaper than a solicitor.

There is virtually no third party market on endowments nowadays and those that do require monthly premiums to still be paid. Not policies that are paid up.

Are you sure you are writing to the right company or the right part of the company? e.g. a lot companies have merged over recent years and whilst some share the same provider name, they still use different addresses for different parts of the legacy book as they havent been able to consolidate them fully yet. AXA, Friends Prov, Phoenix, etc have this issue.

yes i have made sure that i got the right address. I gave them all the information they needed in the letters (except sending a copy of a passport). when i spoke to someone on the phone they acknowledged they had received the 2 letters. but that they could not find me on the computer system (by name/policy number or via the old address). which sounds very concerning to me.
