Making a non-slip floor slip (dancefloor like)

Morning All,
I am trying to organise a birthday party (for myself) and instead of hiring a venue I would like to turn my garage into a 'venue'
I have looked into hiring a dance floor but I believe it would be cheaper to lay black and white vinyl flooring down to create a dance floor effect. My only problem is it will be very non-slip and difficult to dance on.
Can anyone recommend something to make it a bit slippery (but not like an ice rink!)
Also if you can recommend where I can find cheap fabric to cover the walls and ceiling it would be a great help!
Thanks

Spending,
I have no idea about the floor, but on fabric try some of the online retailers.
fabrics-n-stuff.co.uk
cheapfabrics.co.uk
etc (put cheap fabric into google) are all good places to start. Almost all of them have a clearance section, many of them also allow you to sort by price--cheap fabrics has a 2.5o/metre or less sort function. I would suggest you make sure you check how wide the fabric is. Fabric is usually around 42-44" or 52-56" wide. Obviously you'll need fewer lengths of the wider stuff so it might be more economical to buy wider stuff. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but the second website has a selection of cheap lining material for about £1.25/metre in lots of colours.
Alternatively, definitely scour your charity shops. While I doubt that you'll find enough of the same fabric to do your entire garage, stranger things have happened.0 -
Keep an eye out/stick a "wanted" on your local Freecycle for laminate flooring, I've seen small amounts (e.g. kids bedroom, boxroom, etc) offered on there so you could set up a small square for dancing on
For the walls, what about the plastic-y wall coverings? My mum got some halloween themed stuff to decorate her lounge (fairly big room) for my stepsisters one year and it was easy enough to tack up. This kind of thing

Surely you must be able to lightly polish the floor? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
