My angle: Solid excellent Vocational Training of Vocations take your pick goes along side serious heavy hitting academic and rigorously scholarly Academic Training.
It should NOT be a matter of Either/Or so much as Both/And.
That way you can be a Car Mechanic and Professor. A Chef and a Scholar.
I am sick of how people are forcibly streamed into Practical or Academic Streams which denies their true potential whatever their age (!!!!).
So many people who are highly intelligent [working class] people deny themselves an Academically rigorous Future because some Teacher got them into Vocational Training. There is so much risk of this happening at the moment.
I think this ought to be carried on for the rest of our lives because Academic training be it formal or self learning of which I am a practising Fan-ought to undergird us all-unless otherwise and that otherwise is based on what is best for the person and us concerned.
Academic Self Learning is best protection against erroneous and harmful decisons against us that harm our future and intellectual development.
