The idea of wet dog smell horrifies me. Its something i struggle enough to combat with two big and sometimes wet dogs!

It doesn't last too long..it's just a strange thing to clean something and it not smell flowery or whatever though :) I have two dogs who smell of various things as well (sometimes wet dog, sometimes sort of cheesy biscuits for some reason). The steam mop has been great peace of mind though because it's a two minute job to use it and the thought of what they pick up on their paws being in my kitchen always makes me shudder. I try not to think too much about it.

The smell doesn't put me off using mine. There's something quite satisfying about using it to be honest! (I know. I need to get out more...)

Maybe I will try it with just a tiny drop of stardrops or flash or something similar. I think the problem is these products froth up and block up where the water goes through the machine. But the oil idea is good - thanks :)

I would be tempted to stick the cleaning product on the floor rather than in the machine - my husband did some training at a company that manufactures steam mops (and had made ours it turned out!) and apparently most of the returns are due to people not using de-ionised water or putting various stuff in the machines. That made me nervous as I'd used a bottle of ironing water in mine before he was told about that! It's the reason I stopped doing it to be honest (but it did make it smell nice..) I'd hate for you to void your warranty. x

Argh! Forgot to mention. It's great for deodorising the dog beds, and gets rid of bad stinks like sick (we have kids too..) really well. One of my daughters weed on our new foam mattress topper - all the way through to the mattress, as they do, and I used the mop on it after I'd cleaned as much as I could up. It never smelt! Thank goodness...

Oooh, yes. One does have anal gland issues, bless her. And ear ones.

Thanks for the tip! I never realised that's what the smell was. We usually get those done when she's groomed or when she starts chewing her paws, whichever comes first.

    Isn't dog ownership glam?
