BHS wedding sale advice

I've been looking on the BHS website for help on when they change there wedding stock. It seems there spring/summer is in the shop until June, and then August onwards they bring out the winter wedding stock. As I'm after red I'm hoping the winter stock will feature this (I'm after a real red, not the colour they have in at the moment, which in the shop looks much more pinky than online).

Has any bride who is getting married this year, noticed the 'theme' of a BHS sale? I keep noticing 20% off here and there, but wondered if it's likely to reduce to more like 50%? I know I can wait and see what happens to the current stock (ie if it gets reduced to 50%) but with it being around Christmas, i don't want to be waiting for a reduction, only to find it's taken out of the store in January.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

A few weeks ago my daughter and I were in the Manchester BHS and they had a sale rack, but there was not much on it. But what there was - was massively reduced. This is fine if you only one-offs of things but not so good if you want to dress several bridemaids in the same dress but that said I think the store would be happy to ring around/check online if things were available.
But I have been ordering and returning things to make sure that I get outfits that fit everyone because there is no way that I want to be stressing three weeks before the wedding because what I want is not in stock. Added to which the prices are pretty good and even better when they have a promotion on:T
I have yet to sort out my bridesmaid and flowergirls but we'll do a trip to Manchester to have a look around but I like the BHS dresses they fit well and feel really nice on.

But to get back to your original point - you would be a braver person than me - if you left it until the sales, But I couldnt rest easy - if I still knew I had to get dresses etc weeks before my wedding. But then I'm getting married in less than six months time and we only set the date a few weeks ago so time is not on my side. It's looking at stuff or discussing issues and then making a decision and getting on with it!!

  • I am also looking at BHS bridesmaid dresses, and whilst I was in my local store (Watford) last week, a really helpful sales assistant came over to me. She said that the next range will be coming out in July, and that current stock availability tends to become difficult around May.

There was also a single rack in this store of very heavily reduced stock (ie £80 dresses down to £24) - dresses as well as mens/boys waistcoats etc. It seemed that the bright pink taffeta dresses were most heavily reduced, so it was probably a less favoured colour?

I managed to buy 2 of the Anna dresses in sage green for an absolute bargain price from somebody on a wedding forum, and they are in perfect condition (one has not even been worn) and they are current stock... I now have the dilemma of purchasing another 2 dresses from this season, although my wedding isn't until next summer and their sizes may change!

The lady who helped me in my store was really lovely, and I'm sure if you called a branch they might be able to give you more information?

I have two to dress, as long as they're in red to match my shoes, I'm not really bothered if they match or not.

I love a sale :rotfl: I'm a seriously horizontal person anyway, and stress just seems to pass me by. We are lucky in that we don't get married until June next year, so there's no way I would buy a red dress now, knowing they'll be the January sales. I just didn't know if BHS bridesmaid dresses featured in the January sales or if they tend to just go to 20% off. However after googling a fair bit last night :rotfl:they have done a 'buy one get one half price' for the last 2 years around Oct/Nov time, so that might be a plan if they have red in their Winter Wedding Stock.

    That's great to know, thanks

I might ask next time we're passing and see if they know about their wedding stock and January sales. Thanks for that.

Jax, I am confused - have you seen a red dress in their collection? Does it have to be BHS or can you get red dresses from elsewhere?!

And googling a non-exsitent dress for a non exsitent sale is NOT laid back! It is super-organised.

    It's a novel approch mind....

errrrrr yeah :rotfl: I told you I was laid back :rotfl:

I really like thee dresses they have (esp Anna and Violetta) I was speaking to girl in BHS about how I wanted red and she suggested the coral, which online does look red, but in the shop looks more pink http://www.bhs.co.uk/mall/departmentpage.cfm/bhsstore/237858/1?wt.mc_id=weddingcolours3 She said they tend to have red bridesmaid dresses in their Winter Wedding Collection and that the style doesn't vary a great deal. I didn't ask then about the January sales and if their Wedding Collection tends to go into it.

I could get a dress from elsewhere, which is why I wouldn't buy now, I would defo wait til Jan sales as Christmas tends to have lots of red dresses. But I'm expecting a red BHS dress and didn't know if it's likely to go in the january sale or not :rotfl: I'm even laughing as i type this.

I'm back at work tomorrow after 5 MONTHS off  I think the time has come to put down the wedding planning and return to normality. When everything is so done that I'm now searching January sales (in march!) for a dress that isn't even out yet, I think is the time to say I'm a control and organisational freak!:rotfl:

Nice dresses. Could you have them in a different colour IF they go into the sale? As there is no guarantee there will be the same dress in the right colour?! I like the coral - but I do think it is a love or hate it. I know you aren't having flowers but I keep seeing these bouquets which make me think of the seaside...

And would go well with that coral colour if you can't get red?

Bet you are really looking forward to going back to work?

I don't think so, I want red to match my shoes, and I've picked my shoes already :j

I'm quite taken with a shell bouquet that you had on fb some weeks ago, I think I might attempt to make one.

Work wise, I am so ready to go back, it's been a long hard slog but I'm up and about now, and need to be back at work. People don't realise how much they take walking for granted until they can't :rotfl:

Oh yeah, I forgot you are receiving some special shoes!

I would love to see a shell bouquet - I have just had a thought - you could try sticking them on a polystyrene ball on a stick? That might make it easy?

    Best of luck tomorrow.

My bridesmaids got their dresses for about 75% in BHS only a few weeks ago. one was down to £25, the other was bargained down to £15 because the zip was broke, this bridesmaid has had the zip replaced all for way under the £10 difference.

I let them choose what they wanted as these are dresses they bought and could use again after
