Mini Mayfair

Help!!!! I need a Mini Mayfair ( age-in the 90's). I have looked at so many, I see them in my sleep! They look fabulous on the web sites, but are full of rust in the usual places when you see them in the flesh. Can anyone help please?

Tis the story all over with mini's. just need to keep looking. A good place to to look is on the mini forums as you can check the history etc via the site. I used https://www.minifinity.com when i had my mini. for slae section is near the bottom.

I bought my first mini just by searching on the web, and the second one I spotted through e bay, but came to a deal offline with the owner.

You could try the classifieds in mini magazines such as Mini World and Mini Magazine. Mini World also have online classifieds here

There are also other mini forums such as Mini Classic and The Mini Forum - you could also try posting in their 'wanted' sections

Or any mini shows usually have some for sale....

Basically it is just a case of persevering - there are still minis out there that haven't been totally conusumed by rust !

    Good luck ;)

    ex mini owner here...
if you want the best, go to an enthusiast/ owners club member but you pay for quality.
rust is bad on outer panels and front and rear subframes, check for full genuine mot as subframes cost in the hundreds to replace and you can only check them with the car on a ramp
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

The mini chat boards are excellent sources, I had a link in favourites on my old PC. Or go to a mini or classic car show. I will try and find the link and post it for you.

Have you tried asking BMW garages if they have taken one as a trade-in for the new 'Bini'? They would never put a classic mini on the forecourt.

My dad bought my mini brand new for my mum and me to share, £3,800 in 1982, Mini City E, still going strong now - 1 owner from new and always garaged. Everyone knows me for my car! £20 per month petrol, £92 per annum insurance, low rate for car tax.

Keep looking, they really are a money saving experts dream car.
