Recycling Clothes For Money

I have been online and found a website that specialise in exchanging clothing for cash payments. It is called return to earn. I have just received emails back stating that my clothing was 50% stained 10% holed and 40% heavily worn. I am sensing that i have been scammed a tad! i got paid £2.60 for a big bag of clothing that i sent off. My clothing had no stains or holes in before i sent it off. Has anyone else used this company before? I would like to see if watchdog or similar would investigate this matter for me by sending off some clothing to the company that is 'brand new' for example and seeing if the company pay less than they should and say the clothing is damaged or stained. Just also highlighting that people should be aware of this company and others. Louise

  • Hi There
I haven't used the company before but just wanted to ask if you complained/challenged them when they
said your clothing was stained, holed etc and if so what did they say.
I've looked on their facebook page ( you could leave a similar comment on there) and also notice that they claim to be working
    with St Mungos

  • Hello, thanks for your reply, i looked on their facebook page before i used them and there was lots of positive messages on there. I didn't really think that the messages may not be genuine customers at the time. I also tried to google the company to check if it was ok and found no positive or negative information. I was told my clothing was worth nearly £8 but I would be paid £2.60. That is why I am so curious!! I understand that paying for 2nd hand clothing will not earn a fortune but I am just wary! I have not complained yet as there only seems one point of contact via email Olivia Hunt, and i have expressed that my clothing was not stained and holed but she just sent me the stats and that was that. I do not really know what to do. I am hoping someone else on here has used them too so I can shed some light on the company itself. Perhaps I can do some digging. It would be hard to prove that my clothing was not stained/holed/worn if you understand what I'm saying as it has already been sent off. I paid in the cheque as well but that went through fine. I just feel like the company will try to pay you less than they make out they will and try to get away with it. Louise
