Can i get a mortgage?

The advisor has put in the application based on a 15% deposit as he said that is the only way i will get one. I did ask earlier in posts who would be better suited to for a borrower, but no one suggested anything. Im not sure i have the best advisor but people have told me he is really good which is why i asked for his services.0

Ok at 15% I give you a 5-10% chance of success with Nationwide, other things being equal.
Throughout the post every broker said based upon the "limited" (as your broker has all of the facts and credit scores) information provided we would all select Halifax and justified this given their approach to ex-bankrupts.
Still - I absolutely wish you well and at least the broker has been recommended and genuinely I have my fingers crossed for you.
Be good to see you post some good news later - Nationwide typically give a decision immediately.I am a Mortgage Broker

Given the difference in rate I think it's perfectly acceptable to try Nationwide before Halifax. You never know.

Well ive still had no reply. Is there a backlog or is it normally this long to get a decision in principal?0

They said yes so i now have an agreement in principal. hoorah! Onto the next stage already now, though i have to say they are a bit slow!0

As soon as you appoint a solicitor, make sure he does the bankruptcy search before you start spending money on fees and surveys. Get him to box it off with Nationwide right at the outset, so you don't risk having your offer pulled because they miraculously "discover" it a few days before you exchange.I am a mortgage broker. I thought you had to delcare on an application that you have previously been bankrupt.....if thats not the case I am distraught I spent 7 years clearing my debt if someone who has a bankrupcy can get a mortgage after this on the highstreet and I won't be able to because I paid every penny back through arrangements. How unfair is that?3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

If the question is asked on an application you have to answer it honestly.
Anyone not doing so leaves himself open to wasted expense when his mortgage offer is withdrawn later on, when the solicitor's bankruptcy search is carried out and the order is revealed.
