ODesk information and help!

Hello all,

I have been trying to think of ways to increase my income and earn a little extra per day. I have set myself a target of trying to earn an extra £10 a day through various different sites, start off small and build up I hope!
It's going well so far but I have seen odesk mentioned a few times in the forum and just wondered if anyone is a member and if its any good?
I would also like some information on what they actually do....in plain english rather than reading all the stuff on the website!!

Thanks!

I've been on oDesk over a year and earnt a fair bit through them (~£2k last year). They basically have a list of jobs for clients that you bid for. The winning bid then gets the work and is paid on completion.

Be warned - the hard part is starting out and getting your first contracts. Once you have some feedback and examples of your work you look a lot better to clients and find it easier to pick up further contracts.

Maybe you're bidding to high? Perhaps you need to do a few jobs at a very low price so you can start getting some reviews?
  • do they have a UK site?
    what goes around, comes around...........

I have hired a couple of people from Odesk and would say that you get lot of rubbish sometimes that isn't really relevant. It really can help to have a couple of projects under your belt and some feedback from a client.
