I want a SatNav - but which one

Teenage son's birthday coming up (19) and as he took 2 and a half hours last week to go 12 weeks i think its a great idea to get him a satnav.

Question is Tom-Tom or Navman. Obviously it has to be easy to use, dont need Europe and fairly robust.

Any recommendations please?

also consider the road angel 6000 - as it doubles up as a safety camera and speed reminder when not being used for navigation.
Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

There are three types of people in the world, those who can add up and those who can't.
  • Having used most different types on the market, my vote would go to Tom Tom, their mapping software and intelligent director engine (the bit that re-routes of you go wrong) are way superior to just about anything on the market.
If you have the budget, you can also get one that doubles as a bluetooth handsfree kit so you can fulfil that requirement as well.

    Hi,
I just bought mine and I did some intensive research especially by asking people who have bought cheaper versions, most of them are not as accurate. All the people I spoke to recommended the above, went to southampton with it to a village to see a friend and she said sorry ur sat-nav won't bring u this far, guess what it did. I got mine from Tescos on a half-price deal. Hope this helps, saved me a bundle::j
  • My wife bought me a Navman F20 (£120-£140) for Christmas. Was skeptical at first but i really like it now. Its easy to use, very clear maps and directions. Comes with a UK map built in and you can buy country maps for £49. Its shows speed cameras and gives a 1200ft count down upto a speed camera. Feels robust & reliable.

I would most definately recommend this.

Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.:D
  • Wow such a lot of choice,

thanks everyone I think i will go out and physically take a look at all those you recommended and hopefully find the right one.

Built in speed camera detector - that sounds like a good idea, might get one myself.

    Much appreciated
