'Lfetime Mortgages'

My Mum has bought her Council House with a 'Lifetime Mortgages' from the Halifax. The initial 2 year deal is up soon and I want to see if there are any viable alternatives. So, does anyone know who offers 'Lifetime Mortgages' to pensioners (other than the Halifax)? I don't mean 'Equity Release' schemes, but a mortgage offered to an OAP on an interest-only basis, repayable when she dies. Just to complicate things, the mortgage interest is currently paid partly by the DSS (i.e. Housing benefit) and partly by me (as Guarantor).

Many thanks.

  • I think you will need to speak a whole of market independent broker.

Your issue is quite unique and the age of your parent and her financial situation is working against you.
