Anyone struggling with HSBC solicitors?

  • Hi,

I am in the process of selling my property to a buyer who is purchasing with a HSBC mortgage. Both my buyer and his solicitor have been chasing HSBC with little success as they have been 'reviewing' the conveyancing documents for over two weeks now. We havent heard a word since the documents were sent over.

Do you have any advice on how much longer this might take and if there is anybody I can speak to at HSBC to get an update?

I appreciate it should be my buyer and his solicitor doing the chasing but I am getting very anxious and would like to speak to someone myself!

Thanks in advance for any advice,

    JT
  • I am using Countrywide presently and I have to say their service has been very good and efficient (though I suspect, as with a lot of firms, it is about the person you have allocated to do your work - Simon Beard is very good). I would have thought your bad experiance could be more down to the Bank (HSBC) than the conveyancer, as Banks seem to look for reasons not to lend at the moment.

Sorry, but you really need to read the other threads on here about Countrywide conveyancing - particularly on the House Buying board.

The incompetence of CC caused numerous people additional cost, some even lost their sales because of it - and others had to pay stamp duty because of CC's inability to do anything without losing stuff 3 times and then taking 2 weeks to respond.

Assuming your post to be genuine (first time posters who praise something against the full flow tend to be viewed with some suspicion), you were very lucky.

HSBC's choice of CC as their conveyancer has done them no favours, but the incompetence was CC's alone.
