ex's name on original endowment policy

The endowment my husband had originally ( in 1994) had his ex's name on(they were never married) this was removed (in 2001 ish) as part of the break up agreement ,as she got the deposit she put down originally on the house back (all done trough solicitors as things got ugly)
What I wanted to know is if she has any claim on this endowment should we choose to try for compensation

This could depend on whether her name was taken off (ie: the policy was rewritten to a new policy number), or if it was simply "absolutely assigned" to your husband (his sole ownership, she remains a life assured on the policy).

It's worth checking with the company you are complaining to - they will know if she would have any right to compensation, and should have measures in place to protect themselves in this event (for example, if she does have the right to claim compensation for the period up until she relinquished the policy to your husband, the company might ask for the her signature agreeing to all compensation being paid to your husband). But as I said, check this with the company you are complaining to! This should not stop you trying for compensation if your husband feels he was genuinely mis-sold.
