Have you checked all 3 credit check companies? Different lenders use different credit check companies so maybe something is on one of the others that you may not be aware of?

For example my experian says FAIR but my call credit score is very poor... even though both hold the same info...

All lenders use there own scoring system but if they use a different credit company to the one you use it might be causing you problems maybe?

Hi in answer to the question, yes a guarantor could help your chances so long as their situation fits the lenders criteria.

Some old style guarntor still exist in the marketplace and could work, or you could just get a n other (ideally family member) onto the mortgage for credit scoring purposes and then when you remortgage, have them removed as you will quickly rebuild your credit rating with a mortgage credit line.
