Ice packs for injuries

This is quite a silly question, but I really don't know the answer!
I've injured my wrist, and the pain is likely to last for several weeks. The hospital gave me a wrist brace and medication, and recommended that I continue to ice my wrist to help with the pain when the tablets don't cut it. At home I was using a bag of peas, but I can't exactly take that to work!
So where can I buy a reusable ice pack that is suitable for this? I want to pick one up on my way home tonight so I can have it for tomorrow but I don't know if Tesco etc. would stock something like that?

Never seen them in Tesco, but maybe in one of the chemists?

Seen these and although you can't get them for work tomorrow, the link might be useful4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Just noticed that Lloyds pharmacy do them, might be better popping in there than tesco4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Use packet of frozen peas put them in a bag. They mold around the body part and can be refrozen. Just make sure if you refreeze you don't eat them afterwards. They work much better/longer than ice pack0

Well Tesco do not sell this sort of thing! I'll go to a pharmacy over lunch tomorrow and see what I can find.
Thanks for the pea suggestion. I used some at home last night, but I really can't take frozen peas to work with me. I doubt they would even make the commute without defrosting, plus the door fell off the fridge at work the other day, so there is no freezer compartment available to refreeze them. At least with an ice pack I won't be left with mush!0 -
It's just the ice packs don't stay cold long enough as they defrost quite quickly (ankles so a bigger surface area than wrist). Likewise I've tried the freeze sprays in the past and that was no good. Asda was where I got mine.
I used my camping cool box with ice packs in to transport my peas but at least I had a functioning fridge at work.0 -
was gonna suggest a cool box for keeping them in.
Prefer frozen peas or sweetcorn for injuries here too. Mould exactly to the shape u need them
Is there somewhere at work you could put an icepack? Like on a window ledge or something where it would stay colder longer? Obviously not if you're in a highrise building though :rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Lol, not a highrise, but no outside windowsills either. Sometimes it is cold enough inside to freeze something, but the heating is working this week (though you never know, this place is falling down around us so it might break again at any moment!)0

How about Kool n Soothe Ice-eeze? They're disposable, instant ice packs so you don't have to worry about a freezer. Try tesco, lloyds, boots there are other brands as well.
And if you have a canteen at work it might be worth asking, sometimes they have a space they can let you use.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Its worth looking in pound shops. I had two sprained ankles within 1 year (last year- same leg just 6 months apart!) I got an ice pack from a pound shop for the next time it happens! Otherwise, frozen peas works well and if you don't want to eat them once they are defrosted you can always refreeze them to use again the next day. Put them in a different sealed bag if your worried someone will accidentally cook them!
Otherwise, Boots used to sell things like this in the plasters and bandages section but I've no idea if they still do and doubt they are as cheap as the pound shop or frozen peas.0 -
This is very useful info guys, thank you. We’re separate, two ghosts in one mirror, no nearer
