Overpaid by my employer

I'm currently a Uni student in the process of completing a Masters course.

Last year I worked as a Christmas temp at a Royal Mail Distribution centre.

At the time they were having problems with paying everyone (some had not been paid since they started). So to correct the problem they paid most of the workers (including me) £350 cash. They said the amount would be deducted from wages when they eventually got paid so I thought nothing more about it.

Well another week down the line when I finally did get paid I noticed they hadn't deducted the £350 and instead had paid me on top.

I phoned Royal Mail at the time and informed them and they said they would sort things out. Well, it is now March and I've not heard anything from them since. I've e-mailed them and phoned again, still nothing. I haven't even received my payslip for the month of work so I can't really confirm anything.

What I'd like to ask is, can they just take the money back out of my account (I moved the cash into a savings account so I don't accidently spend any of it). Will they take me to court later on for the overpayment. Will my name get blacklisted because of this?

Still got all the cash, but I've heard of people being taken to court for being overpaid. I'd rather they just take the money back than have it sit my account forever.

Theres many threads on the subject try this 1 or this 1 foud on google. They wont take you to court yet as they should contact you to say to return X amount by this date or a certain every month etc. What does your contract say re overpayments. Do anything in writing frm now on so theres a paper trail.
