The Uprights - 524 pages
At first they only hear deep, rumbling roars and grunts, and higher-pitched squeals of fear – and ultimately of submission. Then, in the distance, as the swirling dust settles, they see a pride of lions - with a fresh kill. A downed beast: that’s what they have come so far to find. That’s what, however much the cost, they must claim for themselves.
They understand nothing about the coming Ice Age, but they do know the rains have failed and the herds have all but disappeared. With so few animals about, hunting is no longer a matter of pitching human cunning against the greater speed of their prey. Now, they have no choice but first drive off powerful rivals, especially lions and Neanderthals - and that is much more dangerous. Many die, but still their families starve. If only there was another way.
In fact, one man believes there is. A brave hunter and warrior, Dhi is also gifted with the early stirrings of the intelligence that will one day take mankind to other worlds. He, more than any other, is able to think – not just the unthinkable, but also things which have never been thought. But can he persuade the rest of the clan his plan will work?
Before he attempts that though, he adds Wuhn to his harem. She is young and beautiful, but also headstrong and spirited – and she changes everything.
Taking place 50,000 years ago, The Uprights relates what happens.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

The Clinic (a chilling thriller) - (shortish) 259 pages
They didn't have much to live for. Malcolm, Darren and Eddie, all had their own tragedies, their own demons to face. Malcolm was alone in the world, Darren might as well have been and Eddie, well, Eddie wished he was.
The isolated rehab clinic was not an easy target for these opportunistic thieves, on the contrary, it revealed a dark past and an evil that was sown way before their time. The sterile corridors and soulless rooms swarmed with a depravity that they never imagined possible.
The Clinic is the story of a regrettable heist, of three delinquents who find a lot more than they bargained for. A gripping, thrilling and spine-chilling story of suspense, fear and pure evil.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

Phase Four - 297 pages
If you’re a fan of fast-paced high-concept action thrillers – Michael Crichton, Tom Clancy, Matthew Reilly – you’ll love this. Phase Four is part techno thriller, part adventure story, part conspiracy theory – and all action all the way. When a classified military convoy transporting nerve gas is hijacked in the Nevada desert by a group of Middle Eastern terrorists, Homeland Security investigator Matthew Drake is assigned to put the suspects under surveillance. But when the gas is released inside a luxury high-rise hotel in an apparent attempt to assassinate the President, Drake realizes – too late – that the hijackers weren't terrorists, the convoy wasn't carrying nerve gas, and something is very wrong in Washington D.C. Now mobs are rioting in the Bay Area and panic is spreading across California at a frightening speed, threatening to engulf the entire country. On the run with disgraced CIA surveillance technician Gena Hahn, Drake struggles to contain a sinister plan to achieve total control over the human mind. "Government conspiracy, political intrigue, action, thrills, and psychedelic horror – this book has a little tantalizing piece of everything."Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

Yes seems silly to get a credit to buy books @ 99p (had loads of these recently) when you pay nothing for the one you ordered but hey that's Amazon for youI just ignore these emails and seldom pay for a book unless it's an author I really want.
If it's a book that is part of a series I just add the others to a wish list and check it often to see when the next one is on offer (the other day got book 2 of a series, a few days ago spotted book 1 free, so just book 3 to go).
You do have to be quick with some of these free books though as within hours they can go up in price :eek:Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0
