  • Why not try Gutenburg? Loads of free childrens books - mainly classics that have stood the test of time. Like Beatrix Potter, Grimms Fairy tales etc. etc.
Try this link but there are MANY on there.

  • I have downloaded Gutenberg books to Kindle but Amazon make it a pain.
Save Books in Kindle Format, drag to Kindle device which is not as easy as it sounds BUT at least it gets you Free Books.
I also think Amazon are trying to restrict/make difficult Free book access.

  • Download Calibre and put all your free books found elsewhere in there. Watch their videos on how to use and it becomes easy.
It makes it a doddle adding to the Kindle and coverts them automatically.

I must admit to not buying a book yet but having enough great reading material on my Kindle to last me many years and I read LOADS. I have been known to read 3 or maybe 4 books a day BUT now I'm older I don't read anywhere near so many probably more like 3 a week - I do speedread.

Not sure if being taught to speedread is a blessing or a curse as I can always re-read books a year or so later and still get something out of them.

The easiest way is to download the book (as you have) and then email it (as an attachment) to your kindle. Take a look in your kindle settings to find your kindle email address:

Finding the Send-to-Kindle e-mail address on your Kindle:
The Send-to-Kindle e-mail address associated with your Kindle Keyboard will be displayed on the Kindle Keyboard's Settings screen. You can find this address from your Kindle's Settings screen:
    • From the Home screen, select Menu.
    • Select Settings.
    • Your Kindle's [name]@kindle.com e-mail address is listed under Send-to-Kindle E-mail heading.

If you have a 3G Kindle make sure that you do this when connected to wifi as there is a charge for sending emails to your kindle by 3G.

    More info here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200493090

Also here is some more info about the type of documents (file types) that you can email to your kindle:

    Supported File Types

Kindle personal document service supports multiple file types including:
    • Microsoft Word (.DOC, .DOCX)
    • HTML (.HTML, .HTM)
    • RTF (.RTF)
    • JPEG (.JPEG, .JPG)
    • Kindle Format (.MOBI, .AZW)
    • GIF (.GIF)
    • PNG (.PNG)
    • BMP (.BMP)
    • PDF (.PDF); is supported in our experimental category. See below for details.
The above file types can also be combined in a compressed ZIP (.ZIP) file. ZIP files are automatically opened up by the conversion service, converted to the Kindle format if needed, and sent to your Kindle and stored in your Kindle library. Some complex PDF files might not format correctly on your Kindle. If you prefer to have your personal PDF documents converted to the Kindle format so you can take advantage of Kindle functionality such as variable font size, annotation, Text-to-Speech, etc., type "Convert" in the subject of the e-mail when you submit your personal document to your Send-to-Kindle e-mail address.

Worth a download for 99p I think with it being the anniversary year and all the extra interest in the ship I think this could be quite fascinating.
The graphic, first-hand story of the first voyage and disastrous sinking of RMS Titanic - told by the survivors themselves. The story of the sinking of the great liner, Titanic, has been told countless times since that fateful night on 14th April 1912 by historians, novelists and film producers alike, but no account is as graphic or revealing as those who were actually there.

Through survivors' tales, and contemporary newspaper reports from both sides of the Atlantic, here are eye-witness accounts full of details that range from poignant to humorous, stage by stage from the Liner's glorious launch in Belfast to the sombre sea burial services of those who perished on her first and only voyage.

In the book, the voices of the survivors record their own stories, as well as the official records, press reports and investigations into what went wrong that night.

Also here is a link to the Kindle Spring Sale with books from 99p

You can view a list of free Kindle books here http://www.ereaderiq.com/ sort by genre, popularity etc.
If you sign up for their emails you will get a daily email featuring the latest free Kindle books. A lot of books are only free for a day or so, the email alerts you to them so you can grab a bargain.

Had so many good free books from here, got enough to last me for ages. Plus you only get one email a day so you're not bombardered with unwanted emails

How do I sort out by country on ereaderiq? I have signed up, listed myself as UK and it still gives me US titles. Which amazon won't let me download, grr! Unless I have just picked the wrong titles, certainly the 5 I have tried so far are US only ones.

Well I think I have sussed it, but if anyone has a more straightforward way please let me know! I read about the book on the US website, decide if I want it, then go to amazon uk and search for it. So far they have all come up as free, so it works, if a little long winded!

That'll probably be because you signed up via the .com version of the site where there is an option to set your region?

There is UK version of the site (at the very top left of the page there is an option to "SELECT YOUR SITE:" with a US/UK flag next to it, clicking on the UK flag takes you to eReaderIQ.co.uk).

You should just register your details on the UK site. Unsubscribe from the .com site and then register at the .co.uk site just to make sure you don't get two lots of emails.

I've been getting the daily freebie list for the past few months and I highly recommend https://www.ereaderiq.co.uk, the price drops feature is pretty nifty too. I've got a ton of free books loaded into Calibre, so much so that I've not bought any for a while now. So I'm not at all sure about Amazon not making it easy to get free books, in my experience it's the exact opposite!

I figure I'll download any that interest me now because there can't continue to be that many free books available....
