my electrcity meter is going backwards!!!

i had solar panels fitted on the 21st feb. and edf read my meter on the 20th feb.

i have a meter with a wheel and the reading was 2001, now its 1992. i have told edf this in a covering letter when i sent off the f.i.t forms and got a bog standard reply. but surly this must be wrong?
any advice?

The company who fitted your panels should have explained to you that older analogue meters are not compatible with PV technology.

Have you kept a copy of the letter you sent to the electric company? They may claim money later on when they realise what's happened.

It's definitely worth persisting with them to get them to update the meter.

Many people have given up trying to get there meter changed. It is a very common thing to happen and the electric companies seem to be very slow to respond. As long as you have told them and have a record your fine. however if your like me and want a easy life then its worth persisting. I had my system fitted september and have just got my meter change last week, but it took me a lot of e-mails to NPower and luckily one of them bypassed the customer service department and got to a department that knew whet they where talkng about. Your best bet is to try and see if they have a Solar Panel instalation department and try contacting them. This is what happened with me and they know whts what.

edf came round to change the meter, but the chappy didnt have the right meter in his van.


he took a meter reading.
its now 1951 :eek::eek::j:j
i am not gonna chase them anymore, as they know my meter is going backwards.
