Hi.
Round at my brothers yesterday and he has some pv panels fitted. It was a sunny day and he was raving about them, but i noticed that the dial in the electric meter was gioing backwards.
I didnt mention to him but is this legal as it will be affecting his readings. Does he have to inform somebody?

Usually, when applying to your supplier for FITs registration, one of the questions is 'does your meter go backwards'. If you have one of the old-style meters which will run backwards you should answer 'yes'. If the question is not asked in the application form, it is prudent to let them know, otherwise there is likely to be a bill for the assumed extra owing the company whenever they do find out. A new meter should be supplied FOC.

If you want a peaceful life persist and get it changed. but bewarned it can take a good few months. As long as you have told them and you have a record then this problem is on there side and not yours but they will try to estimate things and it tends to go in there favour.0

It would be very difficult to estimate considering you're now only using most high power items during sunlight hours and have now well and truly caught the 'green bug' and are actively switching everything off overnight. As expected, your bills would be substantially lower though shouldn't be negative!16 x 250W JA Solar Panels (JAM6-60-250) : Fronius IG TL 3.6 Inverter : South Facing : 28 Degree Pitch : No Shading : Manchester M460
