Heartbreaking work decision!!!

Ok, i have been signed off work long term, sick pay due to end april ish. I have SLE, with many complications. Recently awarded DLA (see below).
My Supervisor has just rang me for our usual "how are you chat".
I don't want to stop working!!! She has said my DLA award and condition may mean i have to finish on health grounds. My OH wants me to quit, I feel i am not upto doing the job (im a social carer for a massive SW based company). But i dont want to stop working!!!!
I know im rambling, but im torn. My supervisor just asked if there is anything they can do to help me keep working? Other than a different postiton, there is nothing!!!
Im registered with GMB, may give them a tinkle later, see what they say. What are my rights here?
PS i have no intention of suing for "constructive dismissal etc" if i have to quit. I feel like im letting them down! Have looked into ESA (previous posts), but my job has never been about the money if im fair. Im a giving person and still have a lot to give!!!
Dont even know what im asking now, just some advice on where to go from here. Mucho Thanko xxx GG

Just because you claim DLA it does mean you have to stop work. DLA is not related to being out of work as such, its to do with care and mobility needs. People can (and do) work full time and claim DLA.
So I don't see that as part of the discussion.
What you need to do is explain what would help you back to work. It sounds like you have a supportive employer who is looking at options.
If the only option is a different position, and the employer is unable or unwilling to make this an offer, there is little to do but resign or wait for the employer to fire you.

As your employer is being helpful why don't you meet with them and see if it would be possible to move to a different type of role? How about being office based helping to organise all the carers' schedules and dealing with any problems that arise? One of my colleagues works part time on this - and her firm has real trouble recruiting and keeping people who can cope with the work other than her, so maybe your firm is the same?
Otherwise, if you really can't do your current job, then either they will dismiss on capability grounds or you resign.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

My ex employer asked me 3 times to retire on ill health grounds,i get DLA too.I refused and tried to keep working and it just got too much,they never threatened me with the sack and tried redeployment and altering my working conditions and hours.Sadly it did not work and i had to take up there offer.0

don't forget you get paid for your notice if you do decide to resign or they decide to terminate on capability grounds or other reasons.

Have calmed down a bit now!! Will ring them and arrange a meeting. Being office based is a good thought...if they have space!! Have done care planning before and know my area and bests routes etc. Maybe i could suggest that. If i have to quit so be it! Will stop eating myself up over it, my health needs to come first at the min!!! Most people who qualify for high rate care are usually housebound and do not go out of the house on their own. They also need help constantly throughout the day and night.
Are you physically going to be able to work on this rate even if the do change your job, qualifying for high rate means you have a severe disability.
You also need to consider whether or not it is going to be practical not.
Having said that if your employer is able to make changes for you then good luck with it, as others have said there is no reason why you shouldn't keep on working but don't forget you cannot do in your job what you are given disability for or they could change you to a lower rate due to yo not needing the DLA for that part of your disability.
You need to take advice as you could end up walking through a mine field here.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

If it doesn't work out with this employer then you could find something else, maybe part-time would help, or as many or as few hours a week that you can cope with doing voluntary work somewhere. Gives you something to get up for in the morning I'm thinking.0

The general consensus on here is not to resign, wait for them to get rid of you. Don't forget you are accruing holiday pay all the time you are working'
Just stay on the books till they make the decision and dont let them push you into anythings.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
