Hiya, my first thought is how long is a piece of string...Sorry!

Winning could be quite quick or be months. There is no answer.
Everyone who enters a comp. has the same chance. Just remember thousands enter for just a few prizes.

The more competitions you enter your odds will go up.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)
  • started comping feb 2011, i think if i remember correctly it took 2 weeks for my first win (a book on bullying in school)

that was the only win i had that feb but other months have been better

i started comping after i randomly texted in a code on a bottle and won a wii (so i won before i started comping lol) after that it was about a week after i started comping.... but wins are a lot harder to come by now as there is A LOT of newbie compers and a lot more people entering comps from when i started! you could win tomorrow but you might not win for another 3/6/9/12 months who knows.... comping is just random!

Very Random! I started online comping about ten years back and I won the first competition I entered, a family ticket for Alton Towers! But I used to win at least two prizes a week back then! Fewer now, but still winning!
    Won 2012:
Bobbi Brown Mascara / TRIA System
    Raceday Tickets / Dainty Doll Make-Up /
Garnier Face Serum / Tanning Kit
  • Hi LuckyMucky,

I only started comping in Feb 2012. I have won a few things already including cinema tickets and chocolate. All I will say is you have to put the time in and only enter comps that you really want to win! That way you have more time to enter comps you like.

Don't forget to mark the comps you have entered as not to waste time entering them again.

Best of luck to you, hope your first win is a good one.....and soon!

I started 3 years ago and entered 100s daily for 3 months. I won nothing :) For the last 3 years I have had random days where I have gone mad and entered as many as I can find but have still won nothing.

Being off work recently I again started regularly entering competitions 3 weeks ago and have won a few lovely things nothing big but well wanted things.

I may not win anything for another 3 years but that is the chance you take and why it should always remain a hobby.:D

  • I didn't win anything for a year, and had a few small wins over the past four months. Tbh I don't keep track of how many comp I enter; don't see the point.
  • Hmm, your user name seems very familiar. Anyway, like you, I started yesterday too. The only competition I've won in my life was for a Casio pocket TV when I was a kid. And those things were expensive back then. It took as many batteries as a Sega Game Gear! I look forward to even winning something small now.

It goes without saying that most competition operators will pick a number at random, and often this is automated by a system on sites with regular competitions. I don't really believe in luck. It's merely mathematics. Nobody is granted the ability to win prizes by dark forces in the underworld. It's just about being at the right place at the right time when you click the button—absolutely random.

I've wondered the same thing as you. "How long will it take until I get my first prize?" Keep at it for a month or two and don't give up. Then consider whether it was worth your time. If not, move on.
