this has been posted somewhere else and no doubt it will be merged or deleted but, starbucks are giving away a free latte before 12 on wednesday, while stocks last.

they want you to introduce yourself and they will refer to you by name rather than drink type.

on a side note, how do people feel if this policy applied to children too? no idea if it will, i was always taught never to let people know my name. in case they came up to me saying, "oh jane, how are you, i know your mum etc" maybe my parents were just over paranoid.

I saw it on facebook. Unfortunately (or fortunately for my waistline:p) I don't think I'll be able to get to one. :(

I wouldn't have an issue with them knowing my kids names. Presumably if they are old enough to go into a coffee shop and order one independantly then they have been taught safety-awareness or at least should have been.

The best thing I saw on this topic was a show recently where the host was saying that "speaking to a stranger is ok, going off with one isn't". My eldest is 12 and has his wits about him. My 8yo is more of a dolly daydream but she knows there's a family password and unless someone tells her what it is, she's not going with them.

    Hi kittycat,

As this is a freebie, I've moved it over to the freebies board where it may be merged with one of the original threads.

I think if a child is old enough to order and pay for his/her own drink at Starbucks, this isn't an issue.

Got mine :D They were literally offering them to us as we walked in :p Shame they didn't spell my name right though haha!
  • My mum sent me an email about this just now - haha! They also gave her some 50% off vouchers, a pack of coffee and some mugs.
  • "Hello, my name is Costa, and I would like a free tall latte"

She threw it in my face. :p
